Christina Milian Bio

Christina Milian Photos (Updated: June 8, 2008)

The lovely and talented Christina Milian has donned many hats during her relatively short, yet noteworthy career. As a singer, songwriter, television and movie actress, Christina has made a name for herself, not only in the United States but internationally as well. Born in New Jersey and raised in Maryland, Christina decided early on that a career in show business would become her primary goal.

At the age of nine, the stage was where Christina Milian first publicly put her talents on display in the theater production of "Annie Warbucks." Christina's first television appearance was on the Disney channels movie preview show called "Movie Surfers." Christina's other television credits have only come in the form of limited roles or guest appearances. She has received small parts in other Disney Channel television productions such as "Sister, Sister" and "Smart Guy." Milian also made a cameo appearance on "The Steve Harvey Show," and once appeared in an episode of "Charmed." Though these guest appearances provided Christina with valuable experience and needed additions to her resume, they did not represent the steps required to propel her career to the next level.

It was not until 2000 that Christina received a great deal of publicity from a collaborative effort with Ja Rule's on the hit single "Between Me and You," which was produced by Irv Gotti. The song climbed high up on the billboard music chart and would open many doors for Christina. Her next project was the release of her debut R&B/pop album in 2001 called "Christina Milian." The self titled album was only moderately successful, yet helped Christina build a strong following. In 2002 she worked on another Disney Channel project. This time Milian wrote and provided vocals for the theme song "Call Me Beep Me" to the Disney Channel's popular animated series "Kim Possible."

Christina's second album was released in 2004 and was titled "It's About Time" -- anecdotally, the album was named this due to its being released well behind schedule. Though "It's About Time" did not sell well, in 2005 it did receive a nomination for "Best Contemporary R&B Album." Christina's third album "So Amazin'" was released in 2006, which was, for the most part, produced by Cool & Dre. Unfortunately, sales for "So Amazin'" were also a bit of a disappointment, resulting in Milian leaving Island Def Jam record label.

Christina's shot at a major role in a well financed motion picture would come while she was hosting the short lived MTV program "Wannabes." Through a chance meeting, Christina earned a part in the 2004 movie "Torque" starring Ice Cube. Previously, Christina Milian was relegated to smaller parts in films such as "A Bug's Life" in 1998, "The Wood" and "American Pie" in 1999. The 2003 movie "Love Don't Cost a Thing" starring opposite Nick Cannon, was Christina's first co-starring role in a film. Though the critics neither raved about Christina's performance or the movie itself, this role clearly served as a spring board for her movie career.

This proved true in 2005 with the film "Be Cool, which was the sequel to popular movie "Get Shorty." Inspite of star power like John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Vince Vaughn, and Cedric the Entertainer, "Be Cool" was a disappointment at the box office. Nevertheless, Christina Milian received another part in a movie with some star power behind it with the 2005 release of "Man of the House." Unfortunately, Christina Milian starring opposite Tommy Lee Jones did little to excite moviegoers, and the film came in and then went out of theaters with little fanfare.
