In certain parts of the world, Yoga has for thousands of years been a well known means of reducing stress and increasing flexibility. In recent years, this ancient method has become increasingly popular in America and other Western countries. Sara Ivanhoe deserves a great deal of credit for helping yoga become more mainstream in the United States and elsewhere.

Sara's line of instructional yoga videos have helped introduce millions to the basics of Yoga and beyond. Her first widely distributed video came from the "for Dummies" series and was aptly named "Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies." As with many of Sara Ivanhoe's videos and DVDs, they target beginner and intermediate level yoga practitioners. Her videos also have a somewhat less traditional approach to yoga with routines specifically designed for those with limited time, yet want to reap the benefits of practicing yoga.

Sara Ivanhoe began instructing yoga in 1995 upon completing "Yoga Works Teacher Training." After continued success as a yoga instructor, Sara Ivanhoe would later release her first instructional yoga video entitled "The Joy of Yoga," which was produced by Crunch fitness. It would not be until 2000 that Sara would achieve commercial success with the release of the aforementioned "Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies." This beginner level instructional yoga video featured an informal, easy-to-follow approach to the 12 poses that serve as the foundation of hatha yoga. The success of Ivanhoe's first video prompted Crunch fitness to produce two more yoga related instructional videos featuring Sara. "Crunch: Fat Burning Yoga" and "Crunch - Candlelight Yoga," released in 2001 and 2002 respectively, provide a unique, beyond the basics approach to yoga.

Also released in 2002 was "Beyond Basic Yoga for Dummies," which tried to duplicate the success of Sara's first "for Dummies" yoga video. As you might have guessed, this offering was more intense than "Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies," but features the same easy-to-follow methods that have made the "for Dummies" videos and books so popular. Sara Ivanhoe's first departure from conventional yoga came in 2003 with the DVD release of "On the Ball - Yoga Workout for Beginners with Sara Ivanhoe." This would mark the first attempt by Ivanhoe to push the boundries of yoga by incorporating less conventional workout techniques into her yoga videos.

Sara Ivanhoe's 2004 release of the "20 Minute Yoga Makeover" video series -- produced by Natural Journeys -- which focused on more targeted workouts involving yoga. The video series includes Weight Loss, Total Body Tone with Weights, Sculpted Buns and Thighs, Power Beauty Sweat, and Flat Abs. These yoga-based workout programs may turn off yoga purists, but provide a unique approach to yoga that individuals who are more accustomed to traditional aerobic workouts might appreciate. This series is clearly intended for those who are beyond the basics of yoga and are looking for a workout sans the explanatory nature of beginner level videos. Each video limits its workout to 20 minutes, addressing the problem many face of including a fitness regimen into their busy schedules.

With millions still struggling to find time to workout, the 2007 release of "20 Minute Yoga" is yet another attempt by Sara Ivanhoe to address this growing concern. This video is actually a re-release of two of the more popular videos from the "20 Minute Yoga Makeover" series. This two disk DVD set includes "Flat Abs," which uses a series of twists and stretches to target the abdominal area, and "Sculpted Buns & Thighs" that helps to tone the legs, thighs, and buns.
